Multifunctional device
The use of the MFD allows to significantly reduce the costs for the traffic light and ATCS modernization through preserving in operation the existing road controllers, providing at the same time centralized managing them at the new level and their connection and interaction with additionally installed at the intersection equipment.
MFD is a hardware and software device, which is installed directly into the traffic controller cabinet and as a part of the traffic light (depending on the tasks and the existing equipment) may expand the basic functionality of a traffic controller, provided by the manufacturer.
Main functions
- MFD carries out the task of creating a single centralized system for traffic control and monitoring of working status of traffic light equipment.
- MFD`s interaction with the controller and with the backend of the central ATCS via negotiated protocols and dedicated communication channels provides traffic light regulation.
- MFD plays the part of a program adapter, which allows a controller to interact with the center to send diagnostic information and information about the traffic light status and to receive commands to realize the chosen strategies and management algorithms.
