Penza

In the Penza agglomeration, an intelligent transport system (ITS) continues to develop in order to increase the capacity of the road network, strengthen control of the traffic situation, reduce the number of accidents and traffic congestion.

Decisions based on statistical data obtained from traffic sensors are formed for further transport planning and increasing safety on the roads of the Penza region.

The project from 2022 to 2023 was carried out in several stages:

• Design and approval of plans for organizing traffic and traffic lights
• Optimization of traffic light phase cycles
• Equipment delivery
• Commissioning work performance

In 2022, specialists from Sorb Engineering LLC refitted existing traffic controllers with adaptive control tools at more than 30 traffic lights and installed a number of microwave traffic sensors.

A feature of the ongoing project is the maximum use of existing infrastructure when implementing ITS subsystems.

Thanks to the work performed, Sorb Engineering LLC managed to change the city traffic organization and reduce traffic congestion during evening peak traffic hours.
